The PSP ended up being a mixed result for the company. With the series being less popular in western regions, it failed to revive the platform in the same way. After a slow start in the worldwide market, it was invigorated in Japan with multiple releases in the Monster Hunter series. In 2004, it released the PlayStation Portable (PSP) to compete with the Nintendo DS as part of the seventh generation of video game consoles. No direct successor was released by Sony, though in 2023, a similar remote play accessory, PlayStation Portal, was announced for release by the end of the year for the PlayStation 5.Īfter the success of Nintendo's Game Boy family of handheld game consoles throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, with little market competition, and Sony's massive success with its PlayStation and PlayStation 2 home video game consoles around the same time, Sony entered the handheld market as well. The system is regarded as a commercial failure in the video game industry, and was significantly outsold by the Nintendo 3DS. The platform stalled in 2017 upon the release of the Nintendo Switch, and was completely discontinued in 2019. In the platform's later years, Sony promoted the PlayStation Vita's ability to work in conjunction with its other gaming products, such as Remote Play of PlayStation 4 games, similar to the Wii U's function of Off-TV Play. Though Sony has not released exact sales figures, estimates are around 15 to 16 million units. This built moderate sales in Japan and a smaller yet passionate userbase in the West. Though this led to less diversity in its game library, it strengthened support in JRPGs, visual novels, and Western-developed indie games. A concentrated effort to attract smaller independent developers in the West, combined with strong support from mid-level Japanese companies, helped keep the platform afloat. However, in the year after the device's successful launch, sales of the hardware and its bigger budget games stalled, threatening to end its lifespan. The Vita's design was intended to meld the experience of big-budget, dedicated video game platforms with the then up-and-coming trend of mobile gaming as seen on smart phones and tablets. Sony released the PlayStation TV, a short-lived, re-purposed version of the Vita that uses a television screen like a home video game console, discontinued at the end of 2015. It has all of the same features with a slightly smaller size, extended battery life, and an LCD screen instead of OLED. The PS Vita 2000 series, a revised version of the system, was released across 20. The Vita features a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore CPU and a quad-core SGX543MP GPU. The original model of the handheld includes a 5-inch (130 mm) OLED multi-touch capacitive touchscreen, two analog joysticks, and front and shoulder push-button input, and supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and optional 3G. The console is the successor to the PlayStation Portable, and a part of the PlayStation brand of gaming devices as part of the eighth generation of video game consoles, it primarily competed with the Nintendo 3DS. It was first released in Japan on December 17, 2011, and in North America, Europe, and other international territories beginning on February 22, 2012. Both teammates share the same field, GY and LP, meaning they can use their partner's cards however they want during their turn. As the generations went on, firm rules of Tag Duels have been established to make it truly this trope. Teammates were able to Tribute their partner's monsters or fuse them with their own, and sometimes the player was able to protect their teammate with their monster Taking the Bullet. Each player had their own fields, Graveyards (now known as GY) and Life Points, meaning that you still need to take down two targets with Life Points. Player A1 -> B1 -> A2 -> B2 and no player was allowed to attack on their first turn. Yu-Gi-Oh!: The earliest form of Tag Duels had four Duelists dueling each other in two-on-two Duels, where the sequence of turns followed this pattern. As such, players in parties take turns attacking a monster and "Switch" with teammates to recover, taking turns until the battle is concluded. In Sword Art Online, monsters only aggro on one player at a time.Tag-team matches occur frequently in Kinnikuman, most commonly in the American Tour and Dream Tag Tournament arcs. Not to be confused with the 1990's rap group who wrote "(Whoomp!) There It Is" and "Pig Power In the House." There's a chance a tag team can be an Opposing Sports Team. Compare Swiss-Army Hero, where one character has multiple forms they can switch between, and Swap Fighter, for video game characters whose gimmick is that they're a self-contained Tag Team. Tag Team Twins and Ricky Morton are sub tropes. A Switch-Out Move may be present, as might a Combination Attack. Most commonly seen in Fighting Games where the players can select two or three fighters and change them out between or during fights, possibly using one of teammates as an Assist Character during the fight as well. Whether or not the characters have separate HP meters is an important consideration - sometimes the HP meters are shared, and other times they are distinct. In Video Games, this typically means a group of characters that the player switches control between. A common rule is that, in order to switch, the character must leave the stage and "tag" their partner so they can hop in. Derived from a common professional wrestling gimmick match, a tag team is a group of characters that take turns fighting, usually one-on-one. Professional and semi-professional golfers as well coaches could consider Putt.It.In device in monitoring strokes related parameters to enhance their performance due to its effectiveness in providing information on putting performance.Aldi SC Specialbuys Thur 07 Sept/Sun 10 Sept 2023Ĭheck out this week’s Aldi Specialbuys before they’re gone. Conclusion: The Putt.It.In monitoring device is found to be reliable in measuring the backswing distance, front swing distance, clubhead speed, ideal front swing distance and swing angle. Moreover, the Kolmogorov/Smirnov test re-test indicates that there is no significant difference between the first two 2 m strokes p > 0.05, and subsequent two 1 m strokes p > 0.05 highlighting its ability to recognise the pattern of the strokes applied in the four successive strokes. Results: The ICC reveals 0.98 and 0.96 for both test 1 and 2, as well as a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.99 and 0.96, respectively suggesting excellent consistencies in the overall observations. The intra-class correlation (ICC) coefficient is employed to test the reliability of the device whilst the Kolmogorov/Smirnov test was utilised to further reaffirm the reliability of the application in measuring the aforementioned parameters over test re-test between first two strokes of 2 m distance and the last two strokes of 1 m distance. Methods: A semi-professional golfer (30 years of age ± 5.0 years' experience) executed four strokes repeatedly from a distance of 2 m and 1 m using a Ram Zebra Mallet putter on a PGM golf mat. Objectives: This study aims to investigate the reliability of the device in measuring the backswing distance, front swing distance, clubhead speed, ideal front swing distance and swing angle. A cost-effective golf putting monitoring device namely the Putt.It.In was developed for analysing a golfers' putting performance. The provision of such information is favourable only if it is reliable. Background: The accurate transfer of information on the athletes' performance in any sport is essential in enhancing the performance and overall coaching process. Moreover, from the very beginning, the active search for an extraordinary event prevails in courtly romances, be it due to a concrete mission ( queste) or by setting out into an open ‘space of uncertainty’. Storms and other severe weather phenomena certainly trigger reactions but in patterns of adventure, they can also have intentional, active nuances.Ī coincidence of passive perseverance and character activity is highlighted in research on ‘adventure’ – or Middle High German ‘âventiure’: already etymologically the word refers to a passive hero who is confronted with something or has something come at him (from Latin * ad-venire cf. While I will point out transfers to other areas of interest at the end, the object of inquiry here is whether and to what extent an apparently anthropologically fundamental passivity toward the weather is undermined or transformed by the poetic rules of adventure. My paper is concerned with the significance of conspicuous weather phenomena for plot development, motivation, and structuring in adventure narratives. In all cases, the human being must remain more or less powerless and passive. 651–664), the thematization of severe weather inevitably summons up the notion of inescapable fate, chaotic chance, or an angry god. In an age when weather forecasting was generally part of astrology and divination (Mandosio, 2013, p. While the fascination with meteorological representations and metaphors in the modern era (at the latest from 1800 onwards) is related to the increasing progress in scientific knowledge (Grill, 2019), the weather in medieval texts must have other functions. Raging tempests, sudden downpours, magical hurricanes, hailstones like grenades: medieval literature contains an abundant reservoir of meteorological phenomena. The essay is concerned mainly with the Eneas Romance (Heinrich von Veldeke), the anonymous Herzog Ernst (B), and the Arthurian Romances Parzival (Wolfram von Eschenbach), Iwein (Hartmann von Aue) and DiuCr ô ne (Heinrich von dem Türlin). This (in some ways paradoxical) constellation between passivity and activity is processed through various narrative possibilities in which agency alternates between the prescient characters and meteorological ‘entities’. To return to safety, the heroes undergo adventures, but also expose themselves to perilous situations in which they lose their agency. In particular, storms, as severe meteorological perturbations, seem to excite heroic exploits as they mark the difference between the space of origin and a space of danger. This essay examines the narrative position of weather phenomena in Middle High German courtly romances and their relation to the adventures of the active characters–most of them knights. The tempest is a conventional figure in epic tradition. |
